    I. Summary Overview / Introduction (posted 6.2.22)

     

    • Over the last 几 months, the Senate's 和解委员会 has been hosting campus-wide sessions on its four general education motions. These motions have been discussed, 审查, 和 revised in light of multiple conversations 与 the Provost, the Academic Planning Committee (APC), FSEC, 大学委员会, 院长的团队, OTL, ODEI 和 many other groups on campus.

    • On 5.27 Senate voted in support of all four motions by large majority.

    Motion 1: 教师 Director of General Education

    To endorse the creation 和 hiring of a new position in the Provost’s office, a new 教师 Director of General Education, in accordance 与 the recommendations 和 details described in RCR, Section I (including the outlined spirit of “Sustained Partnerships” 和 “Iterative, 灵活的, 和响应过程”).

     

    Motion 2: New Gen Ed DEI committee --> 新的DEI属性

    To create a Gen Ed DEI 教师 Committee (whose charge 和 timeline are specified in RCR, 第一节及 Appendix B) to be co-chaired by 蕾妮 博塔携手 和 丽莎 Martinez 和 to be seated under their leadership 和 in consultation 与 the 教师参议院 Executive Committee 和 other relevant stakeholders.

     

    Motion 3: Curricular Innovation Pilot Courses

    为两年期的 资助* pilot for innovative new interdisciplinary “linked-teaching” courses that students can take for up to 12-credits of their general education requirements (detailed in RCR, 第I条及附录C).
